I must admit I enjoy flame wars just as much as the next guy and their has been a recent one in the SEO space!

Aaron Wall (seobook.com) vs Rand Fishkin (seomoz.org)

Aaron vs Rand

Aaron Wall vs Rand FishkinThis one has being going on for a while now, and it all started when Rand outed another site, this prompted Aaron to write a piece about the SEO police and how Rand is doing more harm to the search industry by making us all look like whiners!

That post was last year October…

But recently, the last few days,  there have been some more exchanges between these two SEOs via the blog-o-spere.

This latest altercation started when Rand published a blog post entitled: 5 Common Pieces of SEO Advice I Disagree With.

This then  prompted Aaron to publish a piece (Cleansing Misinformation, One Blog Post at a Time!) highlighting, and obviously going into direct conflict with Rands position, that differentiating your Title and h1 tags gives opportunity for targeting more Search Traffic.

Then seomoz has also just released a linkbuilding tool called “Competitive Link Finder” which also prompted another blog post by Aaron highlighting that seobook.com has been offering this type of service for quiet some time.

I think the fact that seomoz.org is marketing this as a new/revolutionary tool is what is causing the most of the resentment.

All I can say is i’m definately going to be attending the next conference where these two SEOs are scheduled to appear at. Things might get a bit heated

Conspiracy  Theory

Although this could all be one well ochestrated linkbait effort. One Wiep would even be proud of!
